Powder post beetle also known as wood boring beetle is the one which bores into the wood. They are harmful s they destroy your wooden furniture like cabinets, drawers, chairs, floorings and even your walls. Getting rid of these beetles is a difficult task. You have to undergo various processes. You need to find out the places where they can hide. However here are certain ways to get rid of them:
Prevention is better than cure: prevention is the most important ways to get rid of these beetles. Powder post beetles enter your homes either through floorings or through furniture’s. They enter your homes because your homes have got wooden material which they like. They stay in either finished wood products or in lumber. The infestation caused by these beetles
mainly come due to making use of old lumbers or furniture which have got powder post beetle holes in them. Such type of lumber should be thrown immediately as there are chances that theses beetles will again infest that areas. Powder post beetles will avoid only those woods which are painted. So paint all the wood stuffs in your house and see to it that the process is finished. If you leave even a small part unfinished that the chances of beetles attracting to it are quiet very high. Also clean the substance before applying the finishing product because the pest will definitely reinfest the whole article.
Using insecticides to treat surfaces: Insect sprays are useful in killing most of the pests. Mixture of laundry soap and water can act as a substitute to these. Along with these beetles it may also be used to kill termites and cockroaches. Use insecticide on the parts that are newly finished. Spary the insecticide on affected areas. It is better to use insecticide which consists of borate in it. This is because it kills the beetles by entering inside the wood. Borate is more useful with unfinished product. You can even use borate on floors which are infected by powder post beetles but make sure that the finish is completely removed before using it.
Replace wood: infestations may be localized in the sense that it consists of only few holes in a sheet of paneling or a board. This is easy because if you see the hole all you need to do is replace the sheet of paneling or the board. Once you see holes being in adjacent spots, you will have to take additional action.
Controlling moisture is a must: one example of powder post beetle is anobiids. It requires moisturized environment to survive. You will find it difficult to get rid of these beetles as they keep coming back. One of the ways to get rid of these beetles is to decrease moisture in the woods through ventilation. The control of moisture in your house is difficult for a common man to do. So you may take the help of an expert in this field.
Thus the above ways will help you get rid of these beetles.
How to Get Rid of Pins and Needles
Pins and Needles are nothing but the sensation that bothers you like a pin pricks you. It is also called as paresthesia. It happens once in a while to everyone but if it happens frequently you need to get rid of it. Below are some common causes and treatment for the same pins and needles. It mostly happens when you put lot of pressure on one particular nerve especially when you sit cross-legged for a long time.
1. Transient pins and needles
Mostly temporary pins and needles are caused due to continuous blockage of blood flow in the arms, hands, legs, feet, and other parts of the body and because of it the connection between your brain and limbs break down completely. The nerve gets squeezed and it restricts its way for carrying the nutrients to cells. When you remove the pressure our brain receives some inconsistent messages that make you feel like pins and needles and after sometime you won’t feel any sensation for the same.
Treatment for Transient pins and needles
1. Limbs and other body parts
Try to move your head from one side to another to lessen the pain. It would help the blood to start freely flowing into the brain and would also relax the nerve which was getting pressurized.
2. Arms
Normally the sensation in the arms is felt due to the nerves of the neck getting compressed. Try to relax those nerves first and within minutes the sensation would vanish.
3. Hands
If there is simply no sensation in your hand then you can start moving your fist in clockwise direction. Thus it would relax the nerve and the pain would go away.
4. Legs or feet
It’s the easiest way to get rid of it. You should simply start walking or jogging so that the blood flow which was blocked starts circulating.
2. Chronic pins and needles
If the sensation is felt frequently then there is some serious problem to it. Below are some common reasons under which it tends to occur.
1. Carpal tunnel syndrome
Carpal tunnel is nothing but a narrow nerve located in the palm of our hand that protects a main nerve and nine tendons. If these tendons gets swollen it reduces the space inside and squeeze the main nerve. The common symptoms of Carpal tunnel syndrome are pins and needles, pain, numbness, and weakness of the hand.
Treatment
To reduce the pain there are several surgical and nonsurgical techniques available and depending on the symptoms it should be diagnosed.
1. Wrist splint
Use a supporter which would hold your wrist when you are fast asleep as these would avoid the pain caused by its numbness. This technique only works if the pain is mild and it does not last for more than a year.
2. Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
NSAIDs are analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects drugs which deprives you of pain, fever and inflammation. Thus it helps you to get rid of Carpal tunnel syndrome.
Thus above are some measures through which you can get rid of pins and needles

Parasites are something about which everyone is aware but nobody wants to discuss about it. There are human parasites present in this world and it is said that one in every six people have one or more human parasites. Everyone is aware about the huge parasite problem in United States but the sad part is it is never identified on time. In short this infection can happen to anyone anywhere.
Reasons for spreading of parasites
Parasitic infection is spreading among humans at a faster pace. There can be several reasons for it. Some of them are as below:
1.
Need to travel internationally
The modern way of parasitic infection getting transmitted is due to Aero planes. Because of this modern gadget it has become easy for humans to travel in any part of the world and also for the parasites to travel from one place to other with great speed. Thus for instance if someone is travelling from United States with the infection to some other country he is becoming the medium of transmission from native country to foreign country.
2. Sexual contact and thus spreading AIDS
Everyone wants to have “some sexual contact since the age of 16. Due to increase in so called “sexual revolution” parasites like Trichomonas, amoebae and giardia are transmitting infection like wildfire.
3. Rising demand for junk food
Nowadays people have no time and energy to cook food. That’s why there is increase in demand for packed food. They might be sometime sold in the market where the flies are extensive and are not covered properly. This is mostly the case during rainy season. Sometimes they are also not cooked properly.
Some common symptoms for parasitic infection are severe fatigue, gastrointestinal problem, digestive problem, arthritis, skin disease and restlessness. Knowing the type of parasites is important for you as well as by the doctors and accordingly it should be diagnosed. Below are some ways of how you can get rid of them.
1. Protect your children first
Children are mostly exposed to the parasites first that is because they tend to put anything in their hands into their mouth including their dirty fingers. Secondly they go to school where in they share their lunch box, toys, pencils and so on. Some of them have pets at home about which they are very fond of. But they hardly wash their hands after playing with them. Thus you should take proper care of them and call your doctor to deworm your child from infection.
2. Use herbs
Many elders and doctors advise that herbs can act as an effective and easy way to get rid of parasitic infection. They are Black Walnut Hulls, Thyme, Fennel, Garlic, Pumpkin Seeds, Cloves, Goldenseal and Grape Seed Extract.
3. Keep yourself clean from inside
Use proper soap before and after going to bathroom. If you are having constipation problem drink a hot cup of water every morning to help you clear your bowels. Thus by doing bowel cleansing you can get rid of bad bacteria within a week.
Above are some ways of getting rid of parasites.

Many of us are not familiar about a creature which roams around only at night. It is none other but they are known as Opossums. It is mostly found in North America and Central America. It is also called as Virginia Opossums. He is a very unique creature. A female opossum can give birth to thirteen offspring’s at a time and can also feed them. They usually hang with the help of their tail. To protect themselves from the predator they very well know to act as dead. Thus they can fool around anyone.
A fully grown opossum can be as tall as two and can weigh almost 10 to 14 pounds. They are purely omnivorous creatures and feed on leaves, grass, fruits, snails and insects. An opossum can never be your pet and people try to get rid of them because they tend to stay in your shelves, create lot of noise and make a blunder of everything. They are garbage lover and thus would mess the garbage bin. Like dogs they are also the carrier of rabies. So you have to be careful while dealing with them. It can give you disease.
Below are some ways to get rid of them:
1.
Check with your local government agencies
You need to catch them with the help of traps. But obviously you won’t be in a position to know as in how to trap them. So you can seek advice from an agent of Department of Agriculture or the local authorities. You can also take help of State Wildlife or the State Fish and Game Department. Please ensure that you use live traps to catch them and you have one famous Have-a-Heart brand for the same.
2. Find a trap
Finding a trap is a big issue. Always go to the government authorities first because they give the traps for free and the traps are also bog enough to catch them. If they are not available then there are some rental centers in the city where you get them after paying some nominal charges. Government traps are more advisable because they are big and secondly sometimes they even haul off the pest for your convenience in a particular area.
3. Use proper bait
Opossums are very smart. So you really have to use your brains while traping them. Not only proper traps are required but also proper bait is needed to trap them. They love the pet’s food. So any leftover of your pet can be used as bait. Food like raw cucumber, tomatoes, corns, grapes, melons, pumpkins, banana, pear and apple can be used as bait.
4. Look for holes
Opossums have the tendency of staying in holes. So if you find any one of those in your house try to seal it with something hard. And is the same is missing you can create a “house” for them made up of cotton wood and once it enters into it, seal the same.
Thus with the help of above steps you can get rid of opossums.
How to Get Rid of Musk Rats

Muskrats are nothing but small furry creature who loves moving from one place to other by troubling everyone. They are not as small as the usual rats but are medium-sized who mostly swim for catching its prey. They are found in plenty in North America. It is mostly seen in countryside where the land is wet. But they are quite adjustable to different climate and habitat. A muskrat fur can be from medium to dark brown in color and its belly is a bit light in color. They are mostly found in cold water as their fur has two layers which protect them. Also their tails have scales and not hair which helps them to swim easily. That’s why when they walk on ground because of their tail a distinct mark is left behind.
Muskrats live in lodges made of grass and mud. Since it is soft it gets washed away due to heavy rains. They sometimes also live in burrows dug deep inside which is very close to the water as it helps them to swiftly go in. But if you have a farm or a fish pond they can trouble you a lot and then you need to get rid of them.
Below are some ways for getting rid of muskrats
1. Locate their food source at a distant place
Muskrats can only enter your place if they find some food source. They normally feed themselves on aquatic vegetation and small animals. If your place has plants like cattails, water lilies, sedges, and pond weeds then you may have to change the location or throw them out. Thus it would avoid muskrats to come in.
2. Change your pond environment
Muskrats normally enter a pond which simply have water of say four to six feet and that too either still or slow moving. That is the reason they don’t prefer to go in some river for food. If your pond is deep enough then they would never roam around. If that is not the case then you can use aeration system which has a compressor located on the ponds shore which would pass on some continuous current and thus the water would be continuously flowing.
3. Put a fence around the pond area
4. It is the easiest and cheapest way to get rid of muskrats. You can simply put a fence around the pond area which is at least two feet high and six inches deep as it will not allow them to make burrows inside. This technique won’t work if your pond is really big and it can also be expensive.
5. Put up traps
Animal traps are available in plenty and in great varieties everywhere. Simply purchase one of them and keep it near the pond with some bait inside. You can use fruits such as apples, grapes and peanut butter as bait to catch hold of him. Once he is trapped try to relocate them at least one mile away from your house or else they shall come back.
Thus you can get rid of muskrats.

You might have seen these millipedes a hundred times in your garden, between the cracks and at many other places and I know that you hate looking at these ugly looking creatures. You might even have used a million insecticides to get rid of them so that your little kid will not shout the next time she sees it. But to your surprise only after one month they are back again.
Millipedes are part of the diplopoda family. They are found in United States. They are basically vegetarian and they feed only on plants and not on meat. Millipedes basically feed on decaying vegetation.
Millipedes generally do not cause any harm to humans. But this is only true in North America. South America’s millipedes are more dangerous because once they are disturbed they can ooze out cyanide-like spray from their system. The millipedes in North America give out certain fluids which have a bad smell. Millipedes have the ability to stain floors, walls and the indoor surfaces of your home. If you come in contact with the fluid which millipedes let out, you might develop certain rashes on your skin. Millipedes are also capable of developing rashes on the skin of small animals. Millipedes give out this unbearable scent to protect themselves from their enemies. Also rolling into the soil is another way of protecting themselves from their enemies.
Millipedes lay eggs in soil. They lay almost 20 to 300 eggs. Their growth of body is basically the growth of their legs. They are divided into 7 small segments.
Identification of millipedes
Millipedes can be generally identifies. The larger ones are cylindrical and elongated. The ones you find in gardens are generally the smaller ones with less than 10 inches and are generally flatter than the usual millipedes. Certain millipedes are also found in drier areas as they like to be in such places. Thus the identification of millipedes is not a difficult task.
Here are certain ways to get rid of these millipedes:
Correct moisture conditions: first you got to find the reason why millipedes have taken shelter in your house. You need to make your moisture conditions right. Water needs to be intercepted before it enters your house. The control of moisture in your house is difficult for a common man to do. So you may take the help of an expert in this field.
Make sure that gutters are properly installed: if you want to control the population of millipedes you first need to clean up your gutter. If you do not have the gutter at the roof line of your house than you should definitely have one. One of the good gutter systems for your house is the wrap around gutter system as it directly allows the water to fall from the roof to the ground.
Thus the above two methods will not only help you getting rid of millipedes but will also prevent your house from many insects. The reason for insects in your house is no proper control of moisture. Thus the proper control of moisture will help you get rid of many insects.

They are of great advantage in farms as they help to fertilize the soil by hunting on debris, remains of birds and even animal droppings.
We need to get rid of them as soon as possible because they are active all the time and can damage your cereals to a great extent. Secondly they start multiplying at a faster rate. If you have seen just one in the morning in your flour bin don’t be shocked to see twenty more the next morning. Other then cereals and flour they also feed on carpets, clothing and artificial plants.

Keep your kitchen clean and dry – The best and the easiest way to get rid of them is by keeping your kitchen clean and dry. They tend to lay more eggs in the dirty places which is their peculiarity. Secondly they can hunt on anything including the decaying material. So try to wipe the kitchen once you are done with your work. They are fond of grain based products. So try to pick them up if they are fallen down. Thus by keeping things dry they can be avoided.
2. Throw away the food which is infected by meal worms – If given the right hatching environment a meal worm beetle can lay as many as 70 to 100 eggs that gradually become larvae in one week. So you can think if you leave the flour bin unchecked with just one of them they start multiplying by ten times.
3. Use air tight containers to store food – These worms can enter through any small hole. So using air tight containers is must. Tupperware and plastic container for this instance can be used to store food. Care should be taken that if the grains are stored in some thin plastic they can easily pierce through them. If you are not using certain things regularly then you can freeze them. By this meal worms won’t be able to enter and if they are there would be killed by the freezing temperature.
4. Ask for professional service of some exterminator – If you can’t deal with meal worm then you can always hire the service of a professional who will provide you with some guidance by charging a nominal fee. They can deal with it in a better way then you can as they are provided training on them.

Human beings have a good friend in their age old problem of ickiness and that’s a fish! Yes, fishes face the same problem of ickiness except that they cannot express like us. However, they have their won way of expressing ickiness through actions and gestures.
Ickiness is a very common disease in fishes with almost every fish suffering from it at least once during its life time. Ickiness in fishes needs to be treated on time because of the following reasons:
• Ickiness is contagious and hence if not controlled can spread very fast to other fishes. This is particularly the case with people keeping multiple breeds of fishes in their fish tanks.
• Fishes have their own way of overcoming ickiness which is by rubbing their bodies against the rocks of your aquarium. This not only intensifies the ickiness because it exposes the fish’s body further to the parasite but also leaves permanent marks on its body
It is important to be careful while buying fish to ensure that they are already not suffering from ickiness. One way is to get an expert to do an examination but an easier and practical way is to see the existence of white spots on its fins. Typically ickiness starts with the fins and then spreads to other parts of the body
There are some standard precautions which can be followed in order to avoid your fishes from suffering from this disease:
• Periodically changing the tank water helps to remove the waste. Just as human beings need to bathe everyday it is important for fishes to also get fresh water frequently. A good frequency is changing the water every 2 weeks. But this can be changed based on the size of the tank that you carry
• Making the aquarium reasonably big and providing enough space for vegetation and coziness is important. This helps the fish to go into a hideout and also provides a cool ambience inside the tank. It also helps the fishes bond with each more effectively
• It is important to provide necessary food to fishes periodically but at the same time not overfeed them. Any overfeeding would be thrown out by the fishes which will only contaminate the water further
• There are salts and other consumable medical aids which can be sprinkled in the aquarium periodically which prevents growth of parasites and at the same time are not harmful to the fish
• In the eventuality of any fish does getting infected with ickiness its important to separate the infected fish from others so as to restrict the spreading of the disease
It is best to take the above precautions and prevent any occurrence of ickiness. However, in case it does happen then there are several treatments available for curing it. There are medicines containing copper sulphate which helps kill the parasite.
Because of the commonality of this disease, it is advisable to keep the precautions handy so as to avoid resorting to the last step of medication.
