Eggs are one of the most common ingredients in almost every kitchen. However, the use of eggs is not limited to cooking and baking. Eggs have been known to contain remedial properties for hair loss. Although egg white is considered the effective and healthy part of an egg, egg yolk shows much better results where your hair is concerned. Moreover, it is also considered a natural and more affordable alternative to hair fortifiers and hair serums. It is also an excellent conditioner.

Egg Mask for Hair Loss

Using eggs as conditioners improves hair growth due to the high protein content. Human hair contains 70% keratin protein. This is the reason egg protein aids in the reconstruction of damaged hair. It fills the weak spots along hair strands. Egg conditioning is considered an intense protein treatment for hair.

Egg Mask To Treat Hair Loss

Applying egg masks helps maintain the strength and shine of your hair. Some effective egg masks for hair loss are mentioned below.

Egg and Olive Oil Mask

This is an effective and simple egg mask for hair. To prepare this mask, break a whole egg into a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and mix well using a fork. Set the mixture aside for later application. Make sure you cover the bowl with a plastic wrap. After you have shampooed your hair, use a towel to remove excessive moisture from your hair.

Apply the egg and olive mask on your hair and scalp. It functions just like a conditioner after shampooing. Concentrate more on hair tips if you are dealing with split ends. Cover your head with a shower cap. Rinse off the egg conditioner cum mask after around 15-20 minutes. Follow the rinsing with your usual conditioner and wash off after 2-3 minutes. You will feel the results immediately – extra shine and voluminous hair.

Egg White Hair Mask

This egg mask is best suited for oily hair type. Excessive secretion of oil can cause various problems that affect hair growth. These problems include blocked pores, scalp acne and other infections. Frequent tangling is another problem experienced by oily hair types.

To prepare this hair mask, mix two egg whites with 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Apply and spread this mixture evenly on the scalp. Cover the application with a shower cap and allow it to dry for about 15-20 minutes. The application will turn sticky after it gets dry. Rinse off. You can conclude the rinsing procedure with shampoo, if you wish to.

Egg Yolk Hair Mask

This is the most effective hair loss treatment involving eggs. Egg yolk is loaded with vitamins, protein and fatty acids. The high content of vitamins A, D and E helps in promoting hair growth besides controlling hair fall.

To prepare this mask, mix two egg yolks with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix thoroughly and pour half a cup of water. Apply this mixture and spread evenly onto the scalp. Cover your head with a shower cap and allow it to rest for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off as usual. You can also shampoo the hair if you feel like it.

Tips

Although eggs are a natural conditioner and don’t have any side effect on the hair, it is recommended to keep certain things in mind while applying eggs for hair loss.

  • Application of an egg should be preceded by thorough shampooing of hair to remove build up due to oils and dirt. This would ensure better results.
  • Excess of anything is not good. Apply an egg mask just once a month and not more than that. Egg mask is an intense protein treatment. Overuse can cause damage to hair.
  • Make sure you apply a leave-in conditioner to conclude the process in case of dry hair.

Now go ahead and use an egg mask to treat your hair and transform your dull hair into lustrous locks that you’ll be proud to show off!
