‘Sleeping’ is an essential activity that every living being needs. Sleeping is the best form of resting and relaxation. Doctors prescribe patients to get ample sleep as this helps them to recover faster.
Sleeping at the right time is beneficial. Sleeping at wrong time is always a problem. A lot of people get a drowsy feeling at wrong time of the day. This causes a lot of problem. Daily schedule might get affected due to the feeling of sleepiness. Here are some possible causes of sleepiness:
Lack of sleep: If you are getting inadequate sleep at night, then you can feel drowsy during the day. A minimum of 8 hours of sleep at night is necessary. A lot of young people these days tend to stay up at night and makes up for it by sleeping till late in the morning. What they do not know is that a night’s sleep cannot be made up for at any other time of the day.
Tiredness: Fatigue and tiredness can also trigger a feeling of sleepiness. In tiredness the body has a tendency to release certain chemicals which makes you sleepy.
Insomnia: This is a serious sleeping disorder, in which the person fails to get sleep at night. So, they get sleepy at the wrong times of the day.
Medications: A number of medicines bring a feeling of sleepiness. However, the effects of these medicines are temporary, and things get back to normal when the course of the medicine is over.
Narcolepsy: Too much of sleeping during the day changes the body clock. Thus, a person might get sleepy at the wrong time of the day.
Metabolic rate: A slower metabolic rate might make a person sleepy.
How to get rid of sleepiness:
- Go to the washroom and splash some cold water in your eyes
- Get a cup of steaming coffee
- You can also grab a can of energy drink
- Take a deep breath and try holding it as long as you can
- Drink lots of water to rehydrate your body
- If you have the chance, try jogging around a bit or walk
- You can also listen to some peppy numbers on your music player
