For the people who are overweight, the most difficult thing and at the same time most important thing is losing weight. Losing weight is not at all easy. It requires a lot of commitment and will power. You need to stick to certain type of disciplined lifestyle and continue with it for a very long time. It requires a lot of will power and not many have it. This is the reason why you will find a lot of overweight people never losing weight. The most difficult thing to control in this world is the appetite. Obese people are not able to control their eating habits. But there are many people who are able to get the will to lose weight and become fitter. Such people are very disciplined and committed. However, there are many people who do lose weight after following a disciplined lifestyle but become victim of Yoyo dieting. This means that after shedding weight, they regain it after some time. Here are some ways to prevent Yoyo dieting.

Yo Yo diet

Don’t get unrealistic with your fitness goals

The problem with a lot of people seeking fitness and weight loss is that they start with setting unrealistic goals for quick results. For instance, if you are over 200 pounds and planning to lose 40 pounds in a month’s time, it could be a very unrealistic goal for you. You may have to make drastic changes to your diets and to your overall lifestyle. You may have the will to continue with the changes for a while but it is very difficult to maintain it for a very long time. You may end up losing 40 pounds in one month but you will get back to your normal lifestyle after some time and you will regain weight. The idea is to set realistic goals and change the lifestyle gradually over a period of time. If you make the changes slowly, you will get used to it and they will become the part of life.

Remain patient

Patience is a virtue and it plays a very important role in the life of the people seeking permanent weight loss. Don’t try to lose too much weight too quickly. It may not only be difficult, it could also cause other health problems. Your goal should be not to lose more than 10-15% of your current weight over the next 6 months. Doing this will not only prevent you from the related health problems, it will also help you maintain the diet and lifestyle.

Be with like-minded people

It’s not always easy to not gorge on a cheesy hamburger when someone else sitting next to you is relishing it. Not everybody needs to have the same fitness goals. But human mind is very fickle and gives in to the urge of the palate rather too easily. If you have set your fitness and diet goals and want to stick to it, then you need a very strong will to stay away from unhealthy diet or you need to completely avoid the company of the other people while they are eating unhealthy things. Instead, find like minded people who have also set fitness goals and are on the relevant diet. When you socialize with such people, you will find the will to maintain your healthy lifestyle. Staying in the company of the people who have already successfully lost weight, following certain lifestyle, is also a very encouraging thing.

Drinking a lot of water could help

When you will start eating less, you will feel hungrier. This will happen because your stomach is used to certain type of and certain amount of diet. When it does not get it, it will show withdrawal symptoms. You will feel hungry when you are actually not. When this happens, there will be a strong urge to eat something. The idea is to not give in to this urge and not eat when it is not needed. To avoid eating, when you feel hungry at the wrong time, you can fill your stomach with water. Drinking water will bloat your stomach and you will not feel like eating anymore. Drinking water has many other health benefits too.

Keep a track of your weight loss

If you lose 40 pounds and then gain 4 pounds, you may think that it is pretty okay and you don’t need to worry about it. But this is not the right sign. If you are losing weight, the pattern should continue consistently and you shouldn’t regain weight at any point of time. There shouldn’t be any yo-yoing. Therefore, it becomes very important to keep a close eye on your weight loss pattern. If you are regaining weight, you should immediately make necessary changes in your lifestyle to make sure that weight loss pattern remains consistent over a period of time.
