Smoking is a strict No-No in this case. Moreover, avoid alcohol as much as possible since both smoking and drinking will irritate your vocal chords and mucous membranes and will make the conditions worse for you.

Abstain From Caffeine And Decongestants

Caffeine and decongestants dry your vocal chords and cause irritation to your throat. Try to avoid them as much as possible. You don’t necessary need to abstain from them completely, but try to lessen them as much as possible.

Keep Your Throat Moist As Much As Possible

When you have a raspy voice, you should keep your throat moist. You should drink as much water and other liquids as possible. Ideally, you should consume at least six to eight glasses of water in a day and use chewing gums regularly. Moreover, you can use a humidifier in your room; run a ward shower or inhale stream, which would surely make things better for you.

Stay Away From Spicy Food

Spicy foods are source of lot of problems within body. If eaten excessively, they can cause numerous issues inside body ranging from acidity, to gastro-intestinal problems, constipation, etc. When they produce acid inside stomach, it reaches your esophagus thereby causing irritation and burning, which results in raspy voice. So stay away from food high in spices.

The entire idea is to sooth your throat. You may use anything or everything which will sooth your throat and make you feel comfortable. Having a Raspy voice is not a critical problem and happens to most of us at least once in our lifetime.
