When your eyes are not adequately lubricated, they can dry out. This especially the case of people who do not cry easily or for people who cannot product tears at all.
Often a person with dry eyes experiences redness around the eyes as well as blurred vision or light sensitivity. Itching or sandy/gritty sensations also are characteristic of people who have dry eyes. Stinging, burning, or scratching also occurs in a person whose eyes are dry.
Other symptoms of people with dry eyes include the following: Stingy mucus buildup, eye fatigue after reading, increased wind or smoke irritation, contact lens difficulties.
Lack of tear ducts or inability to cry is the main cause of crying. However, air conditioned spaces, menopause, rheumatoid arthritis, collagen vascular diseases, and Sjoren’s syndrome are other main culprits as far as diseases that cause dry eyes.
The use of certain medications such as antihistamines or birth control pills also could cause dry eyes. Eyelid or tear duct structural problems (i.e. misshaped eyelids) also are a huge contributor to this problem.
To get rid of dry eyes you must do one or more of the following:
- Use eye drops (a.k.a. artificial tears). Usually some kind of saline solution is made for this purpose. You should talk to your doctor first to make sure your lack of lubrication in the optical area is not the result of a more serious problem. These artificial tears should be used as directed or they could worsen dryness rather than improve it.
- Seek tear duct treatments. This is a method of treatment that involves the insertion of microscopic silicone plugs that close close your tear ducts. The object is to help preserve your natural tears so that they can be used when you need them. This helps prevents optical dryness, too.
- Talk to your doctor about other treatment options. If you have dry eyes, doctor’s advice may be very important because it can really ensure that you receive proper treatment. One medication used to clear up some cases of optical dryness is Restasis.
Restasis increases metastasis on the surface of the eyes while it reduces inflammation. As a result, healthy production of tears is improved. However, keep in mind that this is not a medicine for everyone as it may not work well on people who have had history of eye infections.
Taking a high amount of Omega-3 fatty acids could prevent dry eyes. At the very least it could lower the risk of dry eye occurrence. Furthermore, you may be interested to know the reasons why people seek relief of optical dryness in the first place.
Of course, it is for health reasons. It is a proven fact that tears help detoxify the body and they also help keep the eyes lubricated. The result is improved vision.
You may be surprised to know there is one additional reason that people seek help with their dry eye condition. Well, that “twinkle” in your eyes when you look at your attractive date is usually a result of light shining on the moisture in your eyes.
This is a type of sexiness that some people want to have that they may not currently have. However, with a few small changes they can have that alluring glace they wish to have to impress their dates.
