Blackheads are mainly caused when the sebum on your face is mixed with dead skin cells, which clogs the pores of your skin. Sebum is not bad unless produced in excessive quantities. Your skin has sebaceous glands, which are responsible for producing sebum that makes the skin lubricated. However, when excess of this is produced, it mixes with dead skin cells clogging the pores of the skin.

1. Wash Your Face Regularly

When sebum is mixed with dead skin cells, it clogs the pores of your skin causing acne and blackheads. Washing your face ensures removal of excess sebum and dead skin cells. However, do not wash your face more than two times a day as washing your face excessively will make it dry triggering the production of sebum. Moreover, do not use soaps and oil free cleansers as they can also trigger the production of sebum. Use gels or face packs containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. You should wash your face once at the beginning of the day and then at night just before retiring to bed as it allows your skin to breathe.

Vitamin A is known to reduce or limit the production of sebum. There are three primary ways you can use vitamin A to treat blackheads. First way is to take vitamin A supplements in the dosage of 700 to 900 IU daily. However, you may experience headaches if you are taking vitamin A supplements. You must discontinue taking the supplements if you experience headaches or consult your doctor. Another way of taking vitamin A is through vitamin A rich diets like lettuce, carrots, paprika, cayenne or sweet potatoes. Lastly, you can apply retinoid creams, which are rich in Vitamin A.

3. Lemon and Honey

Lemon and honey scrub helps in exfoliating your skin removing the dead skin cells and absorbing excess sebum on your skin. Make a scrub by mixing lemon juice with honey and salt. You can also add few drops of rosewater to it. Scrub your face using this natural exfoliating mixture daily for about 15 days to get rid of the blackheads on your nose and chin. However, do not scrub your face too roughly as it may injure your skin and open the wounds.

4. Green Tea

Green tea does not only detoxify your body but can also detoxify your skin. Make a paste by mixing few green leaves with few drops of water enough to make a paste. Rub this paste on your chin and other affected areas for about five minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water. Warm water acts as a solvent for sebum and dead skin cells. Apply this paste at night just before going to bed so that your skin can breathe while you are sleeping.

5. Cinnamon

Cinnamon has many healing properties that have been used since many centuries to cure many diseases. There are primarily two ways you can use cinnamon to treat chin blackheads. First, is cumbersome but can also be an overnight treatment for blackheads. Make a paste by mixing cinnamon powder and honey to form a paste. Apply this paste on the affected area at night before retiring to bed and leave it overnight. Next day wash your face with lukewarm water and see the blackheads almost disappear. If you still have some blackheads, repeat the same process again the following night. Second way is to wash your face with a cleanser made by mixing cinnamon powder, lemon and turmeric powder. Mix one tablespoon of cinnamon powder, 50 ml of fresh lime juice and a pinch of turmeric paste to make a natural facial cleanser.
