It can be tough to finish a novel, painting, poem, film, song, or other word of art if you just do not have any new ideas. What does a person do in this situation?
There are a number of ways to re-ignite the artistic spark within you and get rid of a creative block within you whether you are a writer, musician, poet, or painter. Just take a look at the ideas below that can lead to greater inspiration:
- Change work locations. If your creative work is portable perhaps instead of sitting behind a desk or at a table indoors take it outside in the back yard or to the park. Another idea would be to bring it to a coffee shop, especially if you have a laptop and are working on a very important piece of writing.
- Request feedback. You can find it in artist, musicians’ or writers’ groups. No matter what work of art you are interested in the insight and feedback you receive from others can inspire you to improve your work.
- Interact with others more. Perhaps you are one of those very introverted artists and you are a bit shy. This may be a bit of a stretch for you.
However, you might be surprised how opening up to others and having conversations can provide you with creative energy. It is the influence of others that can enhance your creative mood.
- Take a vacation. There usually is never a time when taking a vacation doesn’t inspire you. You always find fresh new material to write, paint, sculpt and talk about when you travel.
- Visit museums and libraries. You can look at examples of other completed works. You would not want to duplicate what others done but you can get an idea of what is out there and what types of art is appreciated nowadays.
- See a movie. You might especially be inspired by a movie about a person who has made it in your artistic line of work. There are countless biographies of writers, painters, musicians, movie makers, and more.
- Take a break and relax. You can take a walk during this time or take a nap. You could also lay in a soapy, warm bubble bath. This will help free your mind of personal clutter so you can start afresh come time to return to work.
- Take a class. You would be amazed at what learning from experts can do to your creativity level. You can learn new techniques and new ways of conveying messages to the world through your art.
